Adopt a Soldier
Ruth and Virginia, with some of the Desert Water Bags we sent to our Adopted Marine Marlon Martinez and his group serving in Afghanistan.  Marlon is Virginia's grandson.  We are also sending him boxes of specialty foods, snacks, puzzles, and personal items to share with his group.  We received delightful thank you notes from him.





Adopt a Classroom
We have adopted the classroom of  English teacher Carrie Ann Myers at the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School at Grant, Alabama. Our chapter has provided a printer and supplies to help them participate at area competitions, and sets of books needed for the new AP English course being offered there. We have also sent financial support to the Agri-Science department there, helping them to purchase welding equipment. Above: Phyllis, Nancy and Heather Green of KDS school.


 
Genealogy Outreach
Nancy, Shirley, Jean, Jacque, Gail and Glenda at chapter information table at Family History Fair Genealogy Conference sponsored by the LDS Church in Escondido.



Serenity House
Louise, Diane and Nancy deliver a load of toys to the Sernity House Baby-sitting Co-op.Serenity House provides a substance abuse treatment program for women and transitional housing for women and women with children who would otherwise be homeless after completing a state-licensed substance abuse treatment program.


Marine Wives for Christmas
Jan and Diana present gift bags to the wives of Marines from the 1st Anglico Division.








ROTC
Commanding Officer Kelsey Perry was awarded the ROTC Bronze Medal at the 2011 Ramona High School ROTC Ball.







Rancho Bernardo Museum
Rincon del Diablo members Marge and Sue are working with the Rancho Bernardo Museum staff to index a large number of newly acquired photos.





Children of the American Revolution Project

Seventeen pounds of  flip-tabs from aluminum cans were donated to the Presidio Hills Society, Children of the American Revolution, who will recycle these tabs for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald House. Shown in the photo with the box of flip-tabs are Regent Phyllis Young and Presidio Hills Adult Advisor Deva Richards.




Quilts of Valor Project

We are making lap quilts for our wounded soldiers and veterans in support of the Quilts of Valor Project. We had lots of fun at our own quilting bee. The two quilts shown have been sent to Marines in Maryland and New York. Three more quilts will be finished very soon.
